The Group’s social interventions are designed to make a positive and sustainable difference to communities.
On the morning of 26th January 2001, an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 struck the Kutch District in Gujarat. The earthquake killed between 13,805 and 20,023 people, injured another 67,000, destroyed nearly 340,000 buildings and left over 600,000 people homeless.
We made a small but meaningful contribution to the Gujarat Rehabilitation Program. We built 344 homes in some of the worst affected areas in Gujarat.
In 2010 we started a unique education initiative for underprivileged children. We sponsored 100 children for secondary education. The cost of education was treated as a soft loan which a child was expected to pay back once they got a job.
10 years later, the fund is getting back 65% of its investment in providing education to children.
Over time we expect to get back 100% of our investment and make the initiative self-sustaining.
In 2015 Mr. Mahesh Advani, the founder of Blossom Trading, happened to visit tribal areas in East India. Across villages and communities he noticed three major problems:
We addressed these three problems in a number of villages. Through solar powered reverse osmosis plants, we brought clean drinking water to the villages. We set up a basic education learning centre that now benefits over the children in these villages. And we organize a medical camp every three months.
